Opinion: Spurs should demand £100k-per-week Real Madrid man, Norwegian & £33m for 27-year-old

Christian Eriksen may be granted an exit from Tottenham this summer if a club are willing to pay £86m for his signature. Real Madrid submitted a bid of Dani Ceballos + £45m which was considerably below Spurs’ valuation, but an offer containing James Rodriguez, Martin Odegaard and £33m may be better received.

James is surplus to requirements at Real and is valued at around £36m – he earns £100k-per-week. Odegaard could also be on the move this summer and has a £17m asking price. That would leave £33m left to make it to £86m, so a cash offer could sweeten the deal. Whether Real consider lodging this bid remains to be seen, but it would be perfect for Tottenham.

The Londoners would be replacing Eriksen with a creative No.10 who can score goals. They’d also be adding an in-form wide-man to the squad in Odegaard, greatly improving their attacking options. Having the Real Madrid duo and £33m more to spend in the transfer market would be a dream come true, but Daniel Levy can’t afford to get too greedy.

The 27-year-old can leave for nothing next year, so Spurs have to be negotiable.
