Opinion: Latest exciting reports have to be acted upon if Tottenham transfer news is true

|

Tottenham Hotspur and Gareth Bale could be the two main characters in an E4 drama given how often rumours appear that the Lilywhites want to re-sign the Welshman. However, as of yet nothing concrete has come up allowing the Real Madrid man to return to north London, until now…

The latest links that have surfaced have come via Spanish outlet Marca, and they’ve dropped an absolute bombshell into the lives of overly optimistic Tottenham fans who have long dreamed of watching Bale arrow another one of his left-footed piledrivers into the top corner at White Hart Lane.

We recently compiled what we believe to be the best Premier League XI to have played for Tottenham, and it’s no surprise that Bale featured on the left-wing, now, though, he could be brought back to the club again to add to his 114 combined goals and assists for the Lilywhites (Transfermarkt).

The Marca report claims that with Bale soon set to occupy a non-EU player spot owing to Brexit and Los Blancos having many an attacking option currently ahead of the Welshman in the pecking order, they’re prepared to allow him to leave the club for free, and if that’s the case then Spurs need to swallow the wage bill and bring him home.

Let's start at the start: What year did Spurs sign Bale?

This summer will bring up the seven-year anniversary of Bale’s move from Spurs to Real Madrid, a move that rocked the world as Los Blancos paid a then-World Record £85m to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu (BBC), and now would be a wonderful time to bring the 30-year-old back to the club to see the last few of his best years.

Whatever does happen, the Lilywhites will have a wonderful array of attacking players next season should no one leave, with the likes of Harry Kane, Steven Bergwijn, Heung-Min Son et al all likely to be raring to go for the 2020/21 season, but Bale would truly be the icing on an incredible cake.
