Opinion: Late move for Man United target could make Tottenham’s window

|

Tottenham fans will all know that they need to bring in at least one more player for this window to go down as a success. The Lilywhites have been linked with all sorts of deals over the course of the window, but now, with just five days to go, Bruno Fernandes is resurfacing.

The Portuguese ace has all of the talents of a top midfielder and there are very few doubts that he can perform in the Premier League. Now, though, it looks like it’s up to Tottenham to get it done, as Sky Sports have claimed the club are set to attempt to sign him in the next few days.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is reportedly unlikely to make the move to Old Trafford this summer, despite previous interest, and the Lilywhites are well placed to be able to make the 50 goals and assists attacker to London.

Those figures are simply ludicrous too. Over the course of the 2018/19 season, he scored 32 times and assisted a further 18, making him one of Europe’s most dangerous players as he came agonisingly close to winning silverware in what is looking like his final season with Sporting.

Tottenham have already got an incredible squad, although if you add 50 more goals to it over the course of the season the potential is simply incredible. Christian Eriksen was hardly in his best form last season too, and if Fernandes came in it would be a welcomed boost.

At the age of 27-years-old, Eriksen’s 20 goals and assists was his lowest total in a Premier League season since the 2014/15 season, and with his future up in the air and his contract expiring next summer, ensuring they have a replacement for the Dane will be key.

We’ve already seen Tanguy Ndombele sign from Lyon, but to make the window a true success the fans want to see some more signings, with another big name what they’re all desperate for. Bruno Fernandes would be just that, and it’s up to Daniel Levy to deliver it.
