Opinion: Danny Mills out of his mind touting Tottenham star with Arsenal move

|

Tottenham supports love Danny Rose and the news that he was included in the club’s Audi Cup squad was music to the ears of the fans, so as you can imagine, Danny Mills’ claims that Arsenal should try and sign him have gone down like a lead balloon with the Lilywhites.

The chances are that Mills has zero inside knowledge when it comes to the goings-on at Tottenham and he’s taken a stab in the dark on this one. His comments have come via Football Insider, and it’s one that is absolutely ludicrous. Tottenham may well be set to sell Rose, but never would he leave for Arsenal.

The last player to sign from Arsenal directly from Tottenham was Sol Campbell back in 2001, and 18 years later the defender is still looked at in North London as an enemy of the people amongst the Lilywhites for his move across the divide on a free transfer.

Rose is smart enough not to make that move, and even if he wasn’t, he still wouldn’t leave purely out of respect for his employers of 12 years after making the move from Leeds to Tottenham way back in 2007. Should the defender stay at Spurs, he will be in line to star at the club too, so he doesn’t need to leave to be playing football.

At Arsenal, the left-back is scene is one that the fans want to see a change in, the only reason Mills has stupidly linked the Gunners with a move for Rose is on the off-chance that they fail to bring in Kieran Tierney. With a bit of luck, Unai Emery will be able to bring in the Celtic man and then talk of Rose crossing the divide will quickly evaporate.
