Official: Tottenham midfielder is an injury doubt ahead of Leicester clash

|

Tottenham have confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon is an injury doubt ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Leicester City. The club’s medical staff are assessing his hamstring injury.

The 19-year-old has yet to make his Spurs debut since joining from Fulham over the summer, but he’s reportedly ‘being monitored’ before Mauricio Pochettino makes a decision on whether to include him against Leicester.

Sessegnon has stiff competition from Danny Rose and Ben Davies at left-back while the likes of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura are ahead of the Englishman on the left-wing.

He was initially making a recovery before suffering irritation in his hamstring, forcing Pochettino to leave the wide-man out of the squad against Olympiacos on Wednesday. Whether he’ll return on the weekend remains to be seen.

Ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Leicester, Tottenham are currently third in the league with eight points from five games, having ended a three-match unbeaten run with a win over Crystal Palace (September 14).

Spurs have picked up just two points from their two away games this season while Leicester have won one and drawn one in their two home games.
