Official: Cameron Carter-Vickers loan update

|

Cameron Carter-Vickers hasn’t enjoyed much playing time since joining Stoke City on a season-long loan and may have regrets about the move. The 21-year-old has now been with the Potters for nearly a month and only has one Championship appearance to his name. Carter-Vickers has featured twice in the EFL Cup, but he’s being overlooked by Nathan Jones in the league.

The US international made his debut in the EFL Cup against Wigan Athletic on August 13. Stoke won 1-0 at the DW Stadium. His league debut came 11 days later against Leeds United, although City lost 3-0 at the Britannia Stadium. Three days later, Carter-Vickers started in Stoke’s penalty-shootout win over Leeds in the EFL Cup. It was 2-2 after extra time at Elland Road.

The Tottenham centre-back has been left out of matchday squad in Stoke’s 3-1 defeat to Charlton (August 10), 2-2 draw with Derby County (August 17), 3-1 defeat to Preston North End (August 21) and 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City (August 31).

Stoke remain rock bottom of the Championship (one point from their first six games) and have the worst defensive record (15 goals conceded), but Carter-Vickers still can’t get in over Danny Batth, Liam Lindsay or Nathan Collins. Unfortunately, the centre-back’s only opportunity in the league resulted in a thrashing from Leeds.
