Official: Cameron Carter-Vickers loan update

|

Cameron Carter-Vickers joined Stoke City on a season-long loan this summer but isn’t having the impact he will have hoped for. The 21-year-old has yet to make the matchday squad in a Championship game and has only featured in Stoke’s EFL Cup win over Wigan Athletic.

Manager Nathan Jones has preferred Danny Batth, Liam Lindsay and Nathan Collins at centre-back. The Potters boss even has Bruno Martins Indi and Kevin Wimmer at his disposal while Ryan Shawcross recovers from a long-term injury. As a result, Carter-Vickers has a lot of competition for places.

The US international was left out of the matchday squad against Charlton Athletic (August 10), two days after signing for City. He failed to make the 18-player list against Derby County a week later and wasn’t included against Preston North End on August 21 either.

Carter-Vickers was given 90 minutes against Wigan on August 13, but it’s clear he’ll have a tough task of featuring in the league under Jones. It’s worth noting, however, that Stoke are currently 24th in the Championship with only one point from four games.

City have conceded 10 goals already this season, so surely Carter-Vickers can get a chance soon?
