On Monday evening, Tottenham Hotspur’s Under 23s were back in action in the Premier League 2 campaign against Derby County and it was a mixed night for our next generation.
We secured survival with a 3-1 win on the night, and in the process helped relegate West Ham United, but whilst fans could continue to cheer the progress made by young striker Jack Roles as he hit a hattrick in the game, there was further injury concern for fellow highly rated youngster Troy Parrott.
81 – GOAL! Hat-trick for @JackRoles_! Great work to release substitute striker Richards, who unselfishly cuts back for Roles to hammer low past the keeper. #PL2 #COYS

You can click the Tweet to see how pleased fans were with Roles on the evening, but it’s safe to say Spurs fans were calling for a new contract to tie up his future and for him to be brought up to first team level.
Being promoted has long been on the lips of fans when it came to Parrott’s progress as well, and thankfully the injury isn’t serious, but he will now likely miss out on the upcoming international games for the Republic of Ireland’s Under 17 side as they are soon to be in European Championship action.
With other issues hitting his fitness this year, maybe we should tie them both down and get them out to League Two for a spell next season to truly judge their progress given the high hopes that circle them. Half a year out, even if only briefly used, would be a valuable experience.
Very important win last night, the boys were excellent, thankfully the x-Ray went well and thereโs no broken bones, thank you to everyone for the messages, Iโll be back soon ๐๐ https://t.co/kshM1i76j1
