Match Thread – Will Spurs Be Ole-ing After Difficult United Clash

|

With small and subtle improvements in Tottenham Hotspur’s performance against dogged and resilient Burnley in our midweek EFL Cup victory, simply put, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have to be a hell of a lot better as we go up against Manchester United on Saturday.

Welcoming under fire Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to White Hart Lane is going to be no easy task at all given the form we are in and unfortunately for us, the fact they are on a run of four without a win means we can expect some kind of reaction from them. If we click again like we did at the very beginning of the campaign, defend well and be clinical (albeit not quite flowing) in attack, we can get back to winning ways here, but that’s easier said than done.

Perform as we have done in some matches this year, and if they give Ole a response, this one could be quite painful.

Tottenham Hotspur's foundations lie in another sport, which one?

Are spurs the only team that when subs come on they actually make no difference what so ever

  • TQ2Spurs says:

An extra 3 minutes of agony. 🙁

  • 123spurs says:

4 times we have conceded 3 goals in a game

  • Love totty says:

Zero shots on target. God save us from Portuguese managers.

  • 123spurs says:

With all the talk about ole and the players, we knew this would happen, typicall spurs

the first 10 or 15 minutes gave me a feeling that things might be better today. After that….

The ship is sitting at the bottom of the sea. We have watched a titanic disaster. The life boats all were filled with holes. Hope was illusion.

If things were bad yesterday, then they are utterly lost today. Nuno has no authority with these players. They all are like Harry–wishing they were elsewhere.

  • TK says:

not one bloody shot on goal in 90 minutes.

we went from the CL final with Poch to this festering puss of a match.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

It didn’t feel like a bad performance to me, we were equally as good as United, but again all of the effort amounted to absolutely nothing.

  • Love totty says:

How the hell, did HK manage to stay on that pitch for 90 minutes. Oh the folly of not having a back up striker.

    • PompeyYid says:

LT…its not as simple, as the folly of not having a back up striker, HK plays, no sorry he his there, not scoring, not playing, not leading, he is a rotten apple, he is only there because our manager hasn’t the bollox to drop him, or is under orders from above, for me Son could do a job in the middle, it would be no worse than it is now, at least we would be playing with 11 not 10men….COYS

Inevitable and totally expected. Man U are not very good and were there for the taking. BUT, we were diabolical even though we had 10 corners to their 1. They did score 3 good goals but we kept giving the ball away.
Why on earth did Nuno pick Davies and Lo Celso? They were dreadful and have been for ages. We did bring our “supersub” on ( Bergwijn!!!) to give us the win. Did you see the Man Utd bench compared to ours? Embarrassing.
I feel sorry for Nuno. He is trying to make a silk purse out of a pig’s ear. However, he is a dismal character and is unable to inspire or encourage. He looks a deflated and beaten character. The players look confused and demoralised. Kane was shocking today and must be worth half the 150 million that Levy wanted. Great business Levy.

Above all there is one man responsible for this shambles. Yes… the faceless Mr Levy. Where is he?

  • TK says:

I’d bring in Jürgen Klinsmann for the remainder of the season. Starting yesterday. Not a friggen shot on goal for feck it all’s sake.

  • TK says:

At this rate this team will be the first in history to merit a double relegation in one season. i’m not sure we could play with Scunthorpe right now.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I think that’s well over two hours of PL football since our last shot on goal.

  • 123spurs says:

Good shout for JK TK and he wanted the job, and a fan favourite. Can’t get any worse.

  • Spurfect One says:

I am having serious issues with our double pivot of Hoijbjerg and Skipp. Both slow down our counter attacks too much allowing the opposition to get into shape, the reason Jose got early success last season was due to the fact Kane was dictating that aspect. I really don’t think they are as good as people say, Skipp is still young and will improve further, PEH is just meh in my opinion, his performances are often up and down and he often gets bypassed easily. We need major surgery in midfield.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Appointing Klinsman would be akin to United appointing Ole and look how that is going.

  • Love totty says:

This is a Ramos moment. Harry Rednap is past it but Scotty Parker is the man to turn to now.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I doubt we would tempt Scotty to leave Bournemouth the way it’s going for him there right now.

  • TK says:

At this point I’d hire Olé Olé Olé Olá just to see the backside of the Holy Ghost, who hasn’t a ghost’s chance of winning over this team. nuno has lost the way and lost the players. he’s the new lost cause.

For now until next season, I’ll take JK.

For god’s sake, I’d take Pope Francis. at least we’d have a prayer. and the man knows how to genuflect at the righteous moment. Right now we seem to have Casper the unholy ghost.

  • TK says:

i’d gladly take Scotty Parker. gladly.
