Match Thread – Spurs Looking To Spear The Red Devils Ahead Of A Well Earned Break

|

Not exactly fresh from our stomping 7-2 victory over Maccabi Haifa on Thursday night, Tottenham Hotspur are back in action on Sunday as we make the trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

We can again expect changes from manager Jose Mourinho given our ridiculous fixture list but for a variety of reasons, I imagine we’ll go pretty strong against United, especially as we are then going into the October international break and aren’t back in action until the 17th of the month.

We then just pray that international managers show a bit more sense than usual when it comes to our players.

Going into the break, getting that second Premier League win of the 2020/21 campaign, you’d have to acknowledge it as a very good start to the year given the minutes played and the progression we have made in Europe and the EFL Cup.

We’d have all taken that kind of start when we realised how cramped our fixtures would be over this period and we might even have Son Heung-Min back on the bench which would be a further boost.

Manchester United...

very strange team from jose, and le celso injured?

  • Hot Tottingham says:

123, Lo Celso picked up a knock on Thursday.
I think there’s a lot of pace in that team… We’ll probably need it.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Not so strange 123, it reflects the amount of playing time squad members have had over the past couple of weeks together with current injuries.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

    WOW!

Looks like the 4 matches in 7 days Havnt taken their toll.

See they got their usual pen.

how kane is still on is baffling, should of been subed at HT, very poor 2nd half could of hit them for 10.

A M A Z I N G. I have been a Spurs supporter for 65 years and have never had the pleasure of seeing us so dominant at Old Trafford. It is unheard of for us to get the run of the ball but today was absolutely brilliant. Impressed with Aurier and N’Dombele. Son is superman. Our best midfielder and cf Harry was sublime. The whole team were tremendous despite the usual pen against us. Magnificent performance and terrific result. We must keep Dele…looked good when he came on. Will Bale get in????. Wow. Lots to look forward to. COYS?

  • 123spurs says:

looks like the whole squad has upped their game, no bale no le celso no vinny, competition for places is high which can only be great.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Can’t believe the ref showed pity for United when giving Shaw a yellow wen there is no doubt it should have been red.

Ed Woodward was on his phone at 80 minutes…….I wonder if he was texting Poch? lol

  • Geofspurs says:

    That was quite enjoyable!

    Good call DH.
    What a result.

    Fantastic team performance.

  • jod says:

Didn’t see that coming. Jose seems to be getting something much closer to the team he wants. We’ve come through a really testing run of closely packed games, and we’ve won them. The squad is looking a lot stronger with genuine competition for places. One thing Jose did today which showed his tactical nous was taking Lamela off at half time. He’d already been booked and there’s no doubt in my mind if he’d had the opportunity the referee would have given him a second booking. Going forward we’ve got some real momentum and just as a bonus United will be in turmoil.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

TQ, you said you had a food feeling about this match. I bet you wasn’t expecting it to feel that damn good.

You also mentioned Hojbjerg improving. You also called that right. He was in complete control of that midfield. He allowed Ndombele to work his stuff. And Tanguy himself is now looking pretty fit and has been also very good…

I have to praise Jose as well as our entire squad… We have done so well to get through this past month as well as we have done. And what a climax to a fantastic week!

  • TQ2Spurs says:

    I didn’t HT but I’ll take it! 🙂
