Match Thread – Spurs Looking For 3 From 3 To End On A High With Villa Up Next

|

With plenty of positives to take from our victory, and the performance, over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, it’s another quick turnaround for Tottenham Hotspur as we welcome Aston Villa to White Hart Lane on Wednesday for our penultimate Premier League clash of the 2020/21 campaign.

A campaign that started brightly, and faded rapidly as 2021 hit, however, a potential top five finish is on the cards but for that to happen, we have to absolutely take three points from Dean Smith’s side and form is on our side, even though both clubs have wobbled in the second half of the season.

Another big plus is Villa should be without Jack Grealish (cheers Levy), as since returning from injury he’s yet to even play 45 minutes, so hopefully at worst, he’ll only get introduced at the break.

With some confidence returning based on our last performance, you’d like to think we’d be comfortable long before their talisman hits the pitch, and with no fresh injury concerns, only Serge Aurier and Ben Davies should be missing again.

Can Ryan Mason really restore some momentum and get us three wins from three going into the summer?

German striker Jurgen Klinsmann spent two years at White Hart Lane in separate spells, but how many league goals did he contribute?

I notice that my last post at 4:04 wasnt moderated …. !

  • 123spurs says:

    Very well said DL.

  • TQ2Spurs says:

Why would it be Oyveh? It’s freely available on the club website.

  • Stan Rosenthal says:

If we are going all philosophical and poetical In this thread can I go all biblical about the current Kane saga. As I see it the key point here is whether Spurs will be as able without Kane. Or will Kaneโ€™s move kill off Spurs as Cain killed Abel in the biblical story. Incidentally it didnโ€™t work out too well for Cain afterwards.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Or to completely misquote Michael Caine from the film, “The Ipcress File”

    “My name is Harry Kane”

  • TQ2Spurs says:

At least we know “Harry’s Game” and our defenders will have had loads of practice defending against him on the training pitch.

  • TK says:

HT, all in good fun, mate, and I love you, too. How can we not love someone who is hot for tott.

Did you see today DL saying he’d lost sight of Spurs traditions and promised to bring in a manager who will play free flowing attacking and entertaining football. All to the good, but I’d like to see “intelligent” in the mix somewhere. free flowing attacking and entertaining does us no good if it’s accompanied by stupidity,

Henceforth, I support positive negativity as the new tradition. Or is that negative positivity?

  • TQ2Spurs says:

I don’t understand why Joe Rodon isn’t getting in the matchday squad, his performances have been better than Sanchez IMO.

  • Hot Tottingham says:

Last home game of the season. And a home crowd too!

Hopefully they get behind the team. And the team give them good reason to….

Let’s make this a good one Spurs… Without any tears.

    ” Know what I mean ‘Arry” .
Winks and Bergweijn starting. Is Bergweijn better than Bale? Is Winks better than Lo Celso? Food for thought? Let’s hope they want to stay at Spurs and show some sparkle.

Nothing personal m8. Just really pondering on what could’ve been if we had delayed the stadium for two seasons, as I thought we were almost there in 2017 to take the league with a couple of recruits. Not against the stadium per say for me it was more about the timing..
If we do make 5th this season, I have to ask how the fek did that happen? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Love totty says:

Looks like a very lightweight team to me. How can Bale not start? You know he’ll be crap as a sub so at least see if he’s up for it but hook him if he fannies around. Bergwijn will be off at half time for sure and Dier needs to give himself a shake. Can’t watch it thank God. But I hope we win ๐Ÿ‘

Having read TK’S negativity post… thought i was reading a script from Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister.

The wonderful sitcom of british political comments from the 1980’s and recently re broadcast on uk tv. Margaret Thatcher said it was her favourite tv show.. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • TK says:

    Stan Rosenthal,

you mentioned what happened to Cain after he killed Abel. If I remember, God punished him by condemning him to a life of wandering, so he founded a team in Wolverhampton and begat a line of wanderers. He should have stayed home like a good Yid in North London and supported God’s team, the Spurs.

Kanes last game at the lane

    • TK says:

wash mouth with soap. When DL commits 250 million to rebuild the club, our HK10 will decide he wants to stay.

  • TK says:

God, I’m embarrassed to find I liked the same TV show that Margaret Thatcher called her favourite. But I did enjoy the writing on that show. That Thatcher liked it is really funny, because the whole concept was the idiocy of both the bureaucrats and the politicians who pretended to care about things beyond themselves. And the Yes in the title, Yes, Minister, made the point that it meant No, which is doubly delicious to me today. It translated for me as “Yeh, yeh, Minister.” The double affirmative became a kind of reflexive, like the double negative. Yeh, yeh is the sign of false agreement.

anyway, off the see what’s up on the pitch.

  • TK says:

Why the F did that idiot Steven Bergwijn start? He’s as much chance as I to score a goal…. Oh, wait… lol

brilliant selection from our Ryan Mason. Bale never could score like that. WTF.

  • Love totty says:

See, all you have to do is diss them and they play better. I could be the new coach.

  • TK says:

Great! Two Spurs players have scored goals early in the match. No, wait….

tears instead of cheers for the second goal we scored. That’s not the way to play. Wrong damned direction.
