“Like Aubameyang” – Tottenham join race to sign “real goalscorer” who Mourinho adores

|

According to an update courtesy of RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Spurs have joined the race to sign Lille attacker Victor Osimhen – but face stiff competition from Serie A giants and another unnamed club.

Osimhen, who has bagged 18 goals over an impressive campaign in France this season, is currently on manager Jose Mourinho’s radar as we reportedly search for an alternative forward option to Harry Kane.

Should Spurs sign Osimhen?

Yes, absolute no brainer

No, definitely not worth it

The Nigerian, being likened to rival ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang recently, has also been described as a ‘real goalscorer’ by ex-Premier League striker Loic Remy – with the 21-year-old prodigy clearly highly rated by critics and fellow professionals alike.

Among his list of admirers, Mourinho has also allegedly showed praise for Osimhen in the past – waxing lyrical over the striker’s abilities after an impressive performance during Lille’s 2-2 draw at home to Nimes in late 2019 according to TVC News.

However, according to news outlet Punch, Osimhen definitely won’t come cheap – with the report claiming Lille value his services at around €60 million (£54.3 million).

This could potentially dampen our chances of acquiring the striker given Spurs’ recent financial difficulties, especially considering we have had to borrow £175 million through the Bank of England to stave off revenue losses.

However, as per journalist Bouhafsi, Tottenham remain in the hunt for his signature but will have to fight tooth and nail with front runners Napoli who currently lead the race.

Whether or not we manage to land the star forward remains to be seen, but given his previous accolades, it may well be a worthy investment.
