Leeds Miss Out On Long Term Target, Spurs To Step In For The Steal – Reports

|

During the January transfer window Leeds United’s chase of Swansea City, and now Welsh international winger, Daniel James was common knowledge. Manager Marcelo Bielsa’s eye opening press conference about Spygate even included a photo of a folder that clearly referenced the 21-year-old talent, and it’s now been suggested that he’s entered onto Tottenham Hotspur’s radar as we look to strengthen next summer.

With James at Elland Road on deadline day but Swansea apparently losing their phone to conclude the deal, the player has gone from strength to strength, showing significant maturity to put the disappointment behind him.

The versatile attacker can play on both flanks and in the advanced midfield role and 2018/19 has been a significant breakthrough year for him, with 30 appearances this year (22 starts) with a return of two goals and four assists. He made his international debut, scoring, during the March break.

Most fans I imagine will question his productivity, but he seems to be a player on the rise so falls into manager Mauricio Pochettino’s category of snatching up youth, but loaning them back out for me.

Whether the reports prove to have any truth to them given the accuracy of the rumour mill remains to be seen, but James could be another interesting project if Poch so decides.
