Kane slams embarrassing attitude of Tottenham players

|

Before the comfortable 2-0 victory away to Aston Villa, Spurs fans were left to endure what was one of the most dreadful weeks in recent years in terms of results, performances and magnitude of the losses.

There really were not many people thinking Dinamo Zagreb could do the unthinkable and win the tie, even before we won the first leg 2-0, and there weren’t too many people more expecting to see such a disgusting display against Arsenal in the North London Derby.

It’s been a difficult year for us fans in general, having to put up with this boring brand of football and the lack of ambition shown in the transfer marker – despite our motto being ‘to dare is to do’.

We need a string of wins now following on from the Aston Villa game if we are to have any chance of beating Manchester City in the League Cup Final – and that trophy could make the season look a whole lot sweeter on paper.

Thankfully, Harry Kane has the same views on the matter as us fans, and has described the attitudes of some of the players as simply not good enough when they are playing for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

“We know we dropped below our standards and the worst part of that is probably our attitude, in terms of how were on the pitch,” Kane said speaking to the official club website.

“You can lose football matches, you can have games where the opposition are better, but that wasn’t really the case.

“We didn’t have any fight, any passion and that’s embarrassing from our point of view as players, we’re the ones on the pitch and we have to control that.

“It’s a shame because we were on a good run before that, but we did a really good job at Villa and bounced back in the right way.

“That’s what we need, and it’s not just for one game, it can’t be like a switch, on and off, it needs to be every game we play in.

“We’ve nine more in the Premier League now, we’ve a cup final to play, we’ve just got to focus on every game and if we have this attitude, I’m sure we’ll be alright.”

It’s reassuring to hear these words from a club leader like Kane, and fingers crossed that the players receive his message in the dressing room too so we can reflect on this season in June with some sense of achievement.

HK10 is right about this. A whole lot of players acted like demoralized idiots. Of course, it’s the manager’s job to be not only the tactician, but the man-manager, and JM has a lengthy history of demoralizing players at previous clubs as well as at n17. Want better motivated players? Replace Mourino.
