Juventus could agree deal with 26-year-old who has ‘expressed discontent’ at Tottenham

According to Tuttosport, Juventus could agree a deal with Christian Eriksen, who has ‘expressed discontent’ at Tottenham Hotspur. The 26-year-old has an uncertain future with Spurs, having so far failed to put pen to paper on a contract extension in addition to suffering from a lack of playing time under Mauricio Pochettino due to injury.

Eriksen’s existing deal runs until 2020, but Tottenham will have a decision to make whether to cash in on the midfielder or risk losing him for nothing in 18 months. The Danish international has made 239 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham, scoring and creating 130 goals since his 2013-move from Ajax.

He’s made nine league appearances this season but hasn’t started a game since September. Eriksen suffered a minor injury in late-September until mid-October and has been eased back to the first-team ever since. There were rumours that his lack of games in recent weeks was down to his failure to extend his contract, but all parties have played down such talk.

Juventus’ interest could be genuine, but there won’t be any definitive outcome about Eriksen’s future just yet. Tottenham are desperate to keep him, but the Danish midfielder will be aware of all the interest in him after contributing 21 goals in 37 league games last season, so he may be weighing up his options.
