With plenty of mixed thoughts on Tottenham Hotspur’s performance in the Premier League opener against Aston Villa on Saturday, few can deny the effect that 27-year-old Danish international Christian Eriksen had on the game.
With our presumed wantaway star having a quick effect on the match following his introduction as a substitute just after the hour mark, he more than gave us a different option as we began cutting Villa open more, and as we know, we took all three points ultimately following goals from Tanguy Ndombele and a Harry Kane brace.
With speculation about his future at White Hart Lane continuing, given he’s into his last 12 months of his contract and the European transfer window remaining open until the end of the month, plenty of fans are hopeful a new deal will be agreed given his performance at the weekend.
We’ll simply have to see what happens come the end of the month, but performances like that certainly won’t help the speculation to die down.
Nothing for levy to forgive. Contract on the table for eriksen it’s wether he wants to sign it or not. Not levy’s issue

Thoughts from today’s game was that Eriksen was the difference when he came on. If we keep him we will be challenging the top 2 from last year no doubt. #COYS #THFC

I’ve been his biggest critic of him but Eriksen changed the game today when he came on……. Also Tanguy looked a different player after the goal, the early boost he needed imo #COYS #THFC @SpursOfficial

We aren't "willing" as much as respecting the players wishes for a new challenge. Better to get something now than nothing later

One thing that’s obvious is that Eriksen makes a difference if we can get him to sign a new deal then amazing if not convince him to stay and give his all for this season #coys #thfc
