I was at the Lane when Mido made his triumphant two goal entry and the faithful went berserk. I also watched the critical game against Blackburn when our future for the current year was being decided. The verdict I have to deliver is that the boy wants a berth with the most exciting young team in the Premiership today ? but he has yet to prove that he deserves it. So he has a few headed goals but so would any basketball player.
If you have read my other articles you will know that I thought he was well overweight against Blackburn. Does that sound like club loyalty or gluttony? He couldn’t beat his man, he couldn’t turn, he wouldn’t take anyone on and his most telling contribution was to knock the ball out to Lee and gallop into the box where he was usually too late.
He almost scuffed Lennon’s wonderful cross and was lucky it didn’t bounce over the net. So he’s a big guy ? he also does a lot of backward headers that go straight to the opposing keeper ? but the muscle is poorly used. He’s so slow he makes Samuel Et’o look like David Campbell.
Martin Jol has to decide what he can buy for £5million. Remind me now, what did Bent cost Charlton? Mmmm? how much did the Wet Ham pay for Dean Ashton? I know there are a lot of Spurs fans who see Mido as a saviour but for me he falls into the same bag as players like Stalteri, Tanio ? serviceable but not really the quality we need.
And another thing, if we buy Angel from Aston Villa and Julio Arca from Sunderland we shall be going backwards. I want to have Martin Jol’s babies but things are getting a little near madness. Praps we should give the £5M to the nearest good cause and put Barnard up front?
