“I’m not stupid” – Conte hits back at critics

|

Antonio Conte has hit back at supporters, after fans have recently criticised the Italians decision to persist with the struggling Emerson Royal over playing Djed Spence or Matt Doherty.

Many fans would have hoped to see more of Spence, with the ex-Middlesborough man only making one appearance this season – a measly 90th minute cameo against his former side Nottingham Forest.

Conte spoke on why Spence has not seen many minutes so far this season: (Football London)

“The fans have to be fans. The fans is the fans, I understand they can think everything but I see every day what happens during the training session. I try to do the best for the team. If they trust me, then they trust me, but the choices are mine. If I didn’t decide to pick one player it’s maybe because he’s not ready.”

Doherty could also arguably be frustrated at the fact he’s stuck on the sidelines after impressing towards the end of the last season, before his injury in April.

Conte: (Football London)

“Doherty last season played every game. Now I’m not seeing him in the right way to start the game. I’m not stupid, I don’t want to lose.”

Many Spurs fans will hope Emerson’s suspension can provide a chance for young Spence to shine or Doherty to display some of the form of last season.

Emerson’t red card doesn’t suspend him from CL matches, does it? Only PL matches, no? Or have I lost track of the rules here?

    To Mr. Conte:

To rage at the manager is the pleasure that pays your overly large salary, Mr. Conte, so thank the gods that supporters usually get around to raging at the manager. Smile at it and cash the checks we pay for each month. You’re much more rich than we are. Why would you complain about the supporters who pay your bills?

You’ll end the complaints not by complaining about them, but by embracing them. Then, manage the team to play exciting, winning football and you’ll be cheered to the end of all ages, as will your progeny.

My prediction for tomorrow’s match in Germany is….

No. Wait. This is the wrong thread. The right thread hasn’t been posted yet. And I’ll forget my predictions by the time the right thread is born.

Drat…, as they used to say in the Beano. Or was it the Dandy? I can’t remember. Drat.

“I’m not stupid” said Conte the football monger.

Of course you are, Mr. Conte. All humans are stupid.

Haven’t you noticed how profoundly the collective “we” has mucked up the whole damned thing? The whole damned thing is a big horrible mess! The only thing we’ve perfected is massive destruction.

Of course you’re part of it, so you share profoundly in the immense stupidity.

So far the only decent thing our species has produced is football. The rest is a giant gallop towards the apocalypse, but football has real goals.

Seems like Conte is doing the same starting tactical formation repeatedly in all games and expecting the best win result every time. Is that misguided or stupid? When he did change the system we went from struggling against leicester to (sonny’s) 6-2 win.

We saw with poch he did not want to change to plan b or c / substitute players in many games when opposition have nullified his tactical system.. until too late in the game, conte is not quite the same I hope….

Conte is far too rigid and defensive in his approach. He is not a good fit for Spurs and will never be.
He is also hampered by the fact we only have one creative midfielder in Kane who attempts manfully to create some attacking movements whilst being expected to score all the goals.
We have no wingers who can get behind the defence. No decent wing backs (except Perisic and Spence) who can attack and defend.
We should end up in the top half of the table but nowhere near top four.
Conte wants to return to Italy and will be gone by summer.

“I am not stupid” says Conte. Yet he has played the same system and largely the same players in every away game this season. Every performance has been poor, in fact extremely poor. We have one win in that game – a backfoot performance against a poor Forest team. We have two draws in desperately poor performances against West Ham and Chelsea and two defeats against Sporting and Arsenal where we got what we deserved – absolutely nothing.
All five performances have been the sort I would expect from a team at the bottom of the league – defend for your lives and hope for something on the counter attack. It is cowardly, boring football and it doesn’t work. I expect nothing different tonight, with in all probability the same result..
So I am afraid to say – yes Mr Conte you are stupid,

    • BelgianSpur says:

Yet we are off to one of the best starts in club history. If you want to be reminded of things that don’t work, go back to the beginning of last season under Nuno. How some people havve goldfish memories.

It’s not perfect, we can all accept that. But if Conte is stupid as you imply, 99% of managers in world football are too.
