“I Hope He Gets A Statue” – Stars Fantastic Response To Spurs’ Moura-Like-It Fight Back

|

Tottenham Hotspur saw Ajax once again take the wind out of our sails in the second leg of the Champions League Semi-Final affair on Wednesday evening, but with some stern words at the halftime break and some tactical tweaks, we may not have known it at the time, but we were in for a hell of a second half.

Three goals down and we finally took the initiative and 26-year-old Lucas Moura had the game of his life as he helped himself to a hattrick to send us through to the Final with an aggregate win.

The fulltime whistle was just an explosion of emotions for Spurs fans and the players, and the image of manager Mauricio Pochettino crying on the pitch is probably burnt into everyone’s minds for the remainder of their lives.

Speaking to the BBC after our 96th minute winner, I think Christian Eriksen probably summed up the thoughts of everyone when it came to Moura’s efforts on the night.

“It was a ridiculous game; we were really far down, we tried to fight back, we were just lucky. We had to fight. We are relieved. Today it was non-tactical, more of a fight and heart performance, heart and Lucas Moura – he’s how we won the game. He deserves it, it has been a rollercoaster of a season, for him to get us in the final, I hope he gets a statue in England after this, we are blown away.”

I think we might be needing a few statues actually.
