“Hope The Club Is Working On Reinforcements” – Spurs Fans Will Read Different Things Into Toby’s Latest Few Words

With ongoing speculation about the future of Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Toby Alderweireld, the 30-year-old continues to say all the right things in the media when the topic of his future comes up in the questioning.

Having previous said that in his own head he was simply preparing for life at White Hart Lane next year, despite the fact that his £25million release fee now comes into play until the final two weeks of the transfer window, and speaking to outlet Nieuwsblad after the recent international fixtures, Alderweireld simply reiterated that belief, stating.

“I’m focusing on a new season at Spurs. I hope the club is working on reinforcements.”

Some fans will no doubt naturally continue to be pessimistic with the swirling speculation about Manchester United continuing on the rumour mill, but until there’s an offer in, there are now questions to answer or decisions to be made, so Alderweireld is right to prepare for life at the club and he’s not making headlines about wanting a move either.

Others will naturally read into the final comment about ‘reinforcements’ and take that as proof he wants to stay and kick on again in 2019/20.

Some will probably think he means a replacement for himself!

It’ll be a busy couple of months, but we’ll soon know the answer.
