With a poor performance from Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening in the Champions League Final, despite actually being better than Liverpool in reality, we still tasted defeat in Madrid and it was a bitter pill to swallow given the early soft penalty award.
A number of players took to social media following the fulltime whistle to send their messages to the fans and thank for their support, as well as expressing their own disappointment at not being able to fully muster one last big effort to really rewrite the clubs’ history and often linked away centre-half Toby Alderweireld was one with a message of his own.
At the same time I couldn’t be prouder of the boys for all of the hard work that has gone in to this season and for getting us to where we are.
Thank you to all of the fans for your continued support you have be class all the way! ????????

Speculation about the 30-year-old will undoubtedly only grow now that the season is fully at an end and we all know what the state of play is with his release clause coming into play.
The reaction to his Tweet was obvious with fans asking for him to stay and sign a new deal, whilst also wishing him the very best should that have been his last game for us.
I guess we’ll soon find out.
