Heung-Min Son set to MISS clash with Liverpool

|

Yesterday, the club confirmed reports that Heung-Min Son would have to undergo surgery after sustaining a fracture under his left eye – in the clash with Marseille midweek.

Son sustained the injury after clashing heads with Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba. Clearly, very dazed and hurt from the challenge – Son had to be replaced midway through the first half.

Spurs will have will likely have to head into Sunday without the forward, which is something Spurs rarely have to deal with – as Son’s last notable injury absence came back in January, as he missed two games with a hamstring strain.

The South Korean’s injury adds another blow to Spurs, who are already suffering from an injury crisis in the forward line – with Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison already having missed a proportion of the season. This leaves Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil as Tottenham’s only fit forwards ahead of their crucial clash with Liverpool.

However, the Daily Mail revealed that Son may return before the World Cup break, possibly returning for Spurs’ game against Leeds on the 12th of November – with the forward possibly having to wear a protective mask.

Many fans in Son’s homeland will be eager to find out the extent of the forward’s layoff, with the World Cup fast approaching. Son is South Korea’s talisman – and the only way many people can see South Korea getting through a tough Group H, is if Son is firing on all cylinders.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) spoke on Son Heung-min’s injury:

“We will decide whether he could participate the World Cup or not after the outcome of his surgery. We are cooperating with Tottenham medical team on Son’s injury”
