Tensions are certainly running high in the Tottenham Hotspur fanbase as our slide in quality in 2019 continues and results and performances have been very poor so far this year and that run of form shows no sign of improving if the Watford showing last weekend was anything to go off.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino is now gearing up for our Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade later this evening and everyone is dearly hoping for a performance, and a solid result, that we can take some confidence from and then hopefully, build on.
In the aftermath of the Watford draw though, Football.London quote the gaffer answering a question about the atmosphere within White Hart Lane, and although I don’t think he says anything out of order, plenty of fans on social media felt he had criticised the fanbase.
“For me that goal is the first step to build our confidence. The other day a friend said to me that in five years it’s the first time we’ve received a knock like that 7-2 and it’s a new thing for us and the players. I have to say that in the last 20 minutes our fans were amazing and pushed us on. The performance wasn’t great, but when you concede an early goal it is always tough, it is a difficult situation. The atmosphere wasn’t in the way you love to play, it wasn’t the best. It is not easy, when I was a professional footballer in this type of situation it was always difficult.”
I don’t read that as a criticism of the fans, more of an acknowledgement as to why there’s a tension in the air, but others certainly did.
Disgusting for him to say that. Fans react to what they see on the pitch. They don't go wanting to boo or groan.

First time in a long time the half time boos were justified. Not nice but people are not getting what they have paid for.only got to see the amount of tickets that have gone on guess sale etc people are voting with their feet.

This is how it starts. Exact same thing happened with AVB. Really would prefer we didn't go down that road again, was horrible

I actually agree with him, the atmosphere was as flat as a witches tit yesterday, however, maybe that’s because the football has become a bit too predictable, especially for the away teams.

Don’t think he’s ever blamed a ref in his life

He’s not lying. We’re all at it. Moaning and groaning most of the game. The fans tried a couple of times to raise the team. And he is right. A lot better towards the end. But the players aren’t helping themselves for sure.

Did the camera zoom in on those straws he’s clutching?

Start giving us fans paying good money entertaining football with some desire and we will get louder, but watching this dross again today we are all fed up with it, there is nothing to cheer for or be excited about the future is looking bleek
