Harry Kane in ‘no rush’ to commit his future to Spurs

|

Just when you thought it could not get any worse for Spurs at the moment, it now seems like their talisman Harry Kane may be getting cold feet regarding signing a new deal with the club.

That is according to Matt Law at the Telegraph, who claims Kane has already turned down one attempt from Tottenham to extend his contract since he tried to move to Manchester City and it is understood he is currently in no rush to extend his commitment to the club past 2024.

This news comes less than a day after Bayern Munich reportedly reaffirmed their interest in the England skipper (more on that here), as the German giants look to replace Robert Lewandowski – who left for Barcelona in the summer.

Manchester United are also said to be monitoring Kane’s situation but Matt Law states that there are theories that the 29-year-old does not quite fit the ideal profile of target recommended by Erik ten Hag, who is said to favour a faster forward such as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

That however, slightly does not make sense with strikers such as Sebastain Haller and Kasper Dolberg – who are both not terribly quick – thriving under Ten Haag in the past.

Kane’s contract is of course not the only uncertainty surrounding the club at the moment with Spurs boss Antonio Conte still not having agreed to a new deal yet (read here).

The Telegraph’s report also states that those close to Harry Kane believe that only Champions League qualification or a trophy might tempt him into staying at Tottenham, but with the way the team are currently playing, that looks highly unlikely.

If Kane was to leave, you wouldn’t blame him as yet again Spurs seem to be at another crossroads and Kane shouldn’t have to deal with yet another crisis at Spurs. A player of his stature and talent deserves to be winning trophies and sadly for Spurs fans, it looks like he can’t do that at Tottenham.

  • Roger Jenkin says:

I feel that HK should stay at Spurs like Gary Mabbutt, Steve Perryman and Cliff Jones.
However, if he feels that he can get trophies elsewhere, good luck to him.
Spurs will still be in existence well after he has retired, and Jimmy Greaves will still be Spurs greatest ever striker even if Kane scores more goals, due to his goals to games ratio.
