Teenage sensation reportedly training with Spurs

|

Tottenham’s youth sides have struggled in recent years with some of the academy’s best talent leaving North London, to find more opportunities (more on that here). However, the Spurs hierarchy seems to want to rectify that by bringing in some of Europe’s best young talent – shown by their pursuit of Oscar Gloukh (more on that here).

This recent trend of securing young talent seems to be continuing, as this morning it was reported that Shamrock Rovers midfielder Justin Ferizaj is training with the club this week. That is according to the Irish Examiner who states the Lilywhites are one of several Premier Leagues clubs that are interested in the 18-year-old as well as Italian side Sampdoria – who reportedly offered the Irishman a three-year deal.

2022/2023 has been a breakout season for the youngster featuring five times in the UEFA Conference League as Shamrock finished bottom of Group F. Ferizaj has also featured four times for the Republic of Ireland under 19s, scoring once (via Transfermarkt).

Likely to command a six-figure fee according to the Irish Examiner, Ferizaj will likely slot straight into Tottenham’s under-18 side if the Lilywhites are able to strike a deal.

If Ferizaj does end up moving to England (hopefully to Spurs) he will follow in the footsteps of fellow Irishman Gavin Bazunu, who at 16 years old moved from Shamrock Rovers to Manchester City.
