Former England and Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Sol Campbell certainly splits opinions at White Hart Lane given his historic behaviour and departure across London to Arsenal all those years ago.
Having run his contract down and left for a free transfer, most fans absolutely hate him, with others completely hating him and there’s probably a group who utterly hate him.
We’ve heard plenty from the man in recent times about how as a wannabe manager he’s not given a chance and he’d be great, it’s almost been Donald Trumpian-like blather at points as clearly, starting at non-league level and working his way up just wasn’t an option of course.
But his chance came, League Two side Macclesfield Town took the press interest and offered him the job and on Tuesday evening in the EFL Trophy, he played his part in two pieces of history.
1 – Macclesfield lost to Newcastle United’s Under 23 side.
2 – It was the first penalty shoot-out defeat in Macclesfield’s 144-year history.

I feel for their fans, that certainly wasn’t in Sol’s script and I guess that’ll be somebody else’s fault, but it brightened up the evening of plenty of fans.
Well done Sol, breaking records already ????
