Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday was overshadowed by a horrendous event on Merseyside. For once, VAR wasn’t making headlines as the only thing people were talking about the clash was the horrendous injury that Andre Gomes suffered during the tie.

Fortunately, modern football provides players with the best possible treatment, and just a day after Gomes suffered his fracture-dislocation injury to his ankle the Portuguese midfield man underwent surgery, and it went ‘extremely well’ according to an update on Everton’s Twitter.
The news of this will have come as a massive relief to both Everton and Tottenham fans. Heung-Min Son was the man to inflict Gomes’ injury on him, but it was by no means malicious and Son was visibly shaken as he was sent off. Now, though, all that matters is that Gomes is on his way to recovery, something the Spurs fans are delighted to hear.
Should Heung-Min Son have been sent off against Everton?
No! It was a freak accident
Yes, you can't ignore the injury

Wishing @aftgomes a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him gracing the pitch in the not to distant future . Also to Everton FC for the wonderful gesture particularly the players involved that went into the Spurs dressing room to console Son. This from a loyal spurs fan.

All @SpursOfficial fans wish him a full recovery ASAP. Never want to see a player injured. Class act from your captain consoling Son after game too
