“Give him his old back” – Some Tottenham fans plead for return of ex-Spurs man

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans want to see Mauricio Pochettino return to the club.

The Argentinian tactician was sacked by the club back in November after a poor start to the season, despite guiding us to last season’s Champions League final. Former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was hired 24 hours later to take his place in the dugout.

France Football (via Get French Football News) revealed that Pochettino received a €5.5m (£5m) payout this season, on top of his €3.9m (£3.5m) wages during the 2019/20 season. However, the report added that he would receive a further €4.4m (£4m) payment from Spurs if he remains out of work by the time next season comes around.

Was Daniel Levy harsh on Mauricio Pochettino?

No

Spurs were 14th in the table when Pochettino left, who had a points average of 1.84 from 293 games in charge. Mourinho’s record has been far from glamourous, with just 11 wins and 10 defeats from 26 matches in charge, and a points average of 1.46, guiding us to eighth in the standings.

As a result, supporters were keen to see Pochettino return to the club. One fan pleaded for the club to “give him his old job back”, to save our season and to ensure that his compensation package is used for other means by getting him back in the hot seat.
