From The Sublime To The Spursy – Match Stats

|

It has turned into a pretty decent transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur, and on the second deadline day of the summer, we saw Joe Rodon arrive at White Hart Lane and he could potentially make his debut alongside the returning Gareth Bale as we faced West Ham United on home soil on Sunday afternoon.

And Bale was on the bench!

It was certainly a bright start. 60 seconds in Son Heung-Min grabbed the goal after Harry Kane set him up and in the eighth minute, Sonny returned the favour. Not even ten minutes in and already 2-0. It was soon 3-0 as Kane grabbed his brace in the 16th having been set up by Sergio Reguilon.

Anymore for anymore? We could’ve built on the scoreline but we failed to, so what did the second half have in store?

Not an awful lot for large parts. The visitors were more in the game but we’d understandably relaxed off a touch. With that said, good chances didn’t fall for them and they never really looked likely to get back into the match.

The highlight of the second period was Gareth Bale re-debuting for the club for the final 20 minutes.

Harry should’ve had his hattrick with ten to go, as Sonny again set him up, but it came back off the woodwork.

West Ham then got a soft equaliser but few would’ve been concerned. They would’ve been when West Ham got a second with little over five left on the clock.

It got worse in stoppage time as Lanzini struck an effort you simply had to applaud – 3-3 – and we’d wasted it.

Full time and we’re back to normal.
