Former Spurs Star Gives His Thoughts On The Kane Question With The CL Final Looming

|

With over 100 goals returned from former Tottenham Hotspur striker Teddy Sheringham during his spells with the club, the 53-year-old is well loved by fans at Spurs and following the confirmation of Harry Kane’s returned to training ahead of the upcoming Champions League Final with Liverpool, he’s now given his thoughts on which way manager Mauricio Pochettino should pivot when it comes to his involvement.

With our England star suffering two ankle ligament issues across the campaign of 2018/19, his last competitive action for the club came at the beginning of April as we took the CL advantage over Manchester City with a 1-0 victory on home soil.

Kane went off in that game just ahead of the hour mark, but the club confirmed he was now building his fitness up once again and hopes are high that he will be in contention for the game.

The question is sharpness, and Sheringham feels that although he should definitely be in the match day squad, he should be on the substitutes bench.

Speaking to Sky Sports this week, he explained.

“Whether they start Harry or not, I don’t know, in a massive game like this. He’s had a lot of problems with his ankles, I think to have him on the bench and to just look around and say we can put him on for a half hour. He’s got another ten days still to get ready for it, that’s a long time in a process of healing. There’s a lot of work going into that as well, making sure all the ligaments around his ankle are getting stronger day by day. I’m sure they’re keeping him in cotton wool at the moment so he doesn’t go over on it again. I wish him well, it’s a massive game, and you never know when it’s your last final, so let’s hope he’s involved and he plays a big part again.”
