The subject of midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Tottenham Hotspur’s reported chase of the 22-year-old Lyon player has probably long reached the ‘get it done, I’m bored’ phase for fans.
There is only so much one person can say about a player, especially when I don’t believe I’ve ever even seen him play. But such is the summer transfer window and I have to do something, but I can’t wait for real news to return instead of all the nonsense speculation where a claim becomes fact and fans lose their marbles over something that is 99% of the time never likely to happen.
The latest update comes from Football London and with Ndombele talking the club up recently, they have Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas talking about the current state of play, and I can certainly see why they claim “there is a growing confidence…a deal will be struck” as Aulas does imply a sense of ‘wait and see, it’s close’ – at least for me.
“In terms of the chronology, before accepting the transfer of Ferland Mendy to Madrid, we signed the young international U17 Belgian, Heritier Deyonge, from PSV Eindhoven. What I can say to you is if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves, but for the moment, we have not received offers of the level that we feel is a just price.”
Those who are relishing his arrival will certainly enjoy that update.
