Fear Of Failure Drives Spurs Star On – Fans Will Love His Grounded Approach To The Game

|

Tottenham Hotspur’s lengthy summer capture of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele certainly seems so far to have been a chase worth involving ourselves in.

Coming in for a reported initial fee of just over £53million as he became our record signing, with future clauses speculated at, the deal could easily rise above the £60million mark. The 22-year-old has already begun impressing fans, returning two goals in eight appearances so far and in what has been a disappointing season, for a few reasons so far, he has been a bright spark for many.

With manager Mauricio Pochettino already stating that there was “amazing potential” for Ndombele to improve even further given the glimpses we’ve seen already, the player himself as made no bones about his development in football and his struggles, and he’s certainly not oblivious to the fact that if he doesn’t perform, he’ll quickly disappear from the game.

Speaking to outlet Canal Plus during the October international break, he admitted he wasn’t pleased with his performances so far since his transfer and he was looking for significant improvement, as the club look to improve results full stop.

“No, I’m not comfortable. I remain focused, I try and go forward all the while thinking you can quickly go backwards. Can I disappear from the world football radar? Yes, at least that’s how I look at things. Maybe in five years time, no one will be speaking about me, and there’s young talent coming out every year in football.”

Again, I think many fans will simply find him restating the above refreshing, given the more modern day approach from some thinking they are entitled.

A return to winning ways this Saturday as we welcome Watford to White Hart Lane would boost everyone’s spirits.
