Fabrizio Romano: There won’t be an internal war between Spurs and Kane

|

Despite the news surrounding Spurs superstar striker Harry Kane that he is set to ask to leave the club should we not achieve a Champions League qualifying place, the chances of him actually leaving this summer remain small as it seems there isn’t any clubs willing to pay £150 million particularly straight after the pandemic.

Kane, who is undoubtedly in love with the club, deserves not just Champions League football, but to be winning Champions League’s as well as a truly elite footballer, so it’s difficult to come to terms that he has possibly outgrown the club particularly if we can’t reach Champions League or win the Carabao Cup.

We all know that typically when Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano announces something, it is 99.99% of the time true, and very rarely does he get things wrong, and he may just be the most reliable source in world football right now, so for him to say it’s unlikely will put some supporters’ mind to rest at least for now.

“All top clubs who could be interested in Harry Kane are in a difficult situation right now to pay £150m or this sort of fee for Kane,” Romano said.

“It’s really, really complicated and it’s a different transfer market, so I don’t see an easy situation for top clubs interested in Harry Kane.

Manchester City are among the clubs linked with Kane, but even they will reportedly struggle to have enough money to afford the England captain.

“We have to mention Manchester City appreciating the player for sure, but remember what Pep said a week ago. They cannot pay enormous fees for top players,” said Romano.

“When you mention the fee, you also have to mention the condition of the agent, the big salary of the player and his long contract, so it won’t be absolutely easy to do this negotiation in the summer.

“I am curious to see how it develops. Harry has always been respectful.

“I know he has this desire to play in the Champions League, but for sure if he’s staying at Tottenham he will be staying at Tottenham he will stay at Tottenham and fight for Tottenham, so I am 100% sure that they won’t have an internal war between Kane and Tottenham, they will decide together.”

It’s a real mind-settler to know that Kane won’t kick up a fuss if he doesn’t get his move, and if he remains at the club next season he will give his all for the fans and the team.

This summer is shaping up to be a nerve-racking one, and while we do not yet know whether or not Kane will be at the club next season, what we do know is there will be plenty of drama ahead of next season.
