Explained: Tottenham may have to pay £30m and £1.5m wage for centre-back they’re scouting

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham will have scouts present to watch Milan Skriniar when his Slovakia side lock horns with Wales in Cardiff. The 24-year-old has been a standout performer for Inter Milan in the Serie A and has interest from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea as a result.

Tottenham could be losing Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld next year and will need at least one stellar replacement at the back. Skriniar appears to fit the bill and Inter are reportedly open to cashing in on his signature. The defender has an asking price of £30m and currently earns £1.5m-a-year/£29k-per-week at the San Siro.

He’s made 76 appearances in all competitions since joining the Nerazzurri from Sampdoria in 2017 and has been a regular this campaign. Skriniar averages a tackle (50) or interception (21) every 32 minutes, has made 107 clearances and has won 50 aerial duels (50%).

Tottenham are expected to be in the market for a central defender this summer or in the winter transfer window, but Skriniar might be worth making a move for now. He’s one of the best defenders in Italy and might be swept up by a European giant if Spurs hesitate.
