Report: Tottenham interested in highly-rated Argentine, Danny Rose won’t be happy

|

According to The Sun, Tottenham are interested in Nicolas Tagliafico and could pay £15m to bring him to their new state-of-the-art stadium in London. The 26-year-old is highly-rated and has attracted interest from Arsenal and Barcelona as a result of his performances for Ajax.

Tagliafico only joined the Eredivisie side from Independiente for £3.6m in January 2018 but could be in line to land Ajax 400% profit if he’s sold on for his new reported asking price. The Argentine international has made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch outfit, scoring and creating 13 goals.

His arrival may anger Danny Rose, however, with the England international being frequently linked with an exit. Tagliafico is a left-back and would surely only be signed if an existing player was leaving. Ben Davies has been on the periphery this season but there’s been far less talk of him being sold to fund a replacement.

With Tottenham going more than 12 months without making a permanent signing, it’s hard to see Mauricio Pochettino signing players in positions that the club have depth in. Spurs have a fervent need to sign a central midfielder, so buying a third left-back isn’t priority. Time will tell if a move is made for the Ajax man.
