In less than two months, overseas clubs will be able to offer Christian Eriksen a pre-contract deal that could see the 27-year-old join on a free transfer in July. Daniel Levy will be left red-faced if Eriksen leaves Tottenham for nothing next summer, having priced out the midfielder in July, but he does have one more option to avoid embarrassment – a part-exchange deal.
Real Madrid, Manchester United and Juventus are three clubs that have shown an interest in the Danish international, but Eriksen’s next destination might depend on which player Tottenham want coming in the opposite direction –Isco/Gareth Bale (Real), Anthony Martial (Man Utd), Paulo Dybala (Juve).
It’s hard to see any club paying money up front for Eriksen, so Levy’s only chance of getting value from the midfielder is by using him as a makeweight in a potential deal for a past transfer target. Tottenham could make a cash + player bid to bring in another forward, but they may struggle getting a deal over the line.
