Opinion: Harry Kane must do what he does best and take his massive chance at Tottenham

|

Tottenham fans, and fans of the Premier League in general, will all know just how important Harry Kane is to the Lilywhites and will all know just what he’s capable of. However, now the England captain has got a massive chance to prove himself not just as a player, but as a Tottenham captain.

At the moment the striker is the club’s vice-skipper and he’s a top player, but with Hugo Lloris now sidelined with injury it will be Kane who wears the armband for at least the rest of 2019, as Hugo Lloris is out with a ligament injury and a dislocated elbow suffered against Brighton (BBC).

We all know that Kane is a leadership figure from his time as England skipper as he led by example on the pitch, winning the World Cup Golden Boot on his way to helping the Three Lions to the competition’s semi-finals.

Then there is also the fabled team talk that Harry Kane delivered to his teammates against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final second-leg last season, coming into the dressing room at half-time when his side were 2-0 down and demanding more, as per The Independent.

However, the odd flash of brilliance and show of leadership is all well and good, but now Kane has to lead by example on and off the pitch, not that he wasn’t doing so already, to show that he can wear the armband in the long term and maybe even take over from Hugo Lloris.

Many Spurs fans would seemingly like to have Kane takeover from Lloris full-time, but this is the window for him to prove it, and it’s certainly not going to be an easy ride for him to do just that given the current shocking form that the Lilywhites are showing.
