Confirmed – Young Spurs Talent Will Make Full International Bow On Thursday

|

Republic of Ireland manager, as expected, has confirmed that highly rated Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott would gain his senior international cap in their friendly on Thursday evening against New Zealand.

The 17-year-old will feature in a starting XI that will take on a more youthful outlook for McCarthy as he gives some of their next generation a touch more experience and a greater taste of life at that level, and McCarthy had previously hinted as much when it came to Parrott during the call up.

Fans will remember stepping up to Under 21 level recently, he hit three goals in two games as he impressed again.

With the Denmark qualifier on the horizon, McCarthy knows that the opportunity to impress upon him is there, and he’d be delighted if Parrott was one of those players who gave him a headache ahead of Monday night’s crucial action for them.

“I hope he scores two goals and then I’ll deal with it. It’s hypothetical, isn’t it, and I don’t really talk hypothetically. Let’s hope he does it, let’s hope he gets the goals, let’s hope he plays really well. You know, if he plays really well and scores two goals, I might have a clamour in my own head to include him in the game as well, so fingers crossed he does that.”

Plenty of fans will have their fingers crossed for the lad, as doing well in this one can only help his chances with us given our struggles at the moment.

Will Parrott Make His Mark?
