Colombian Flop Is Not Spurs’ Answer To Reported Eriksen Chase

|

Rumours linking Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid isn’t exactly new.

The rumours about the 26-year-old have been rife for months and in some ways have actually quietened down despite the January transfer window opening…whilst his contract situation rumbles on they certainly won’t go away though with various sums like £100million being thrown about by the media.

This week has seen a slight twist in the reporting about the Dane though, as Spanish outlet Football Espana have claimed that Real will now use James Rodriguez as a makeweight in the deal.

The 27-year-old Colombian was rated as a hot prospect following his appearances for his country at the World Cup some years back, but having made the move to Real, it hasn’t exactly been a perfect spell and he’s again out of favour and out on loan with Bayern Munich – albeit currently injured.

Maybe others will disagree, but given the little I know of the player and reports of constant unhappiness at Santiago Bernabeu when rotated, he’s absolutely the wrong type of player for us and if Eriksen does ultimately leave, we’ll maximise the price – we won’t burden ourselves with someone like him just to lessen the price tag in Real’s favour.

Given Bayern have a multi-season loan in place as Madrid looked to move him on, if manager Mauricio Pochettino had any interest in him, surely we’d have made a move back then if Poch believed he could maximise his undoubted talent and skill – when he’s happy.
