With the recent unsubstantiated – but quite novel suggestion – that Tottenham Hotspur could insist that any deal with Real Madrid for Christian Eriksen included former player Gareth Bale travelling in the opposite direction, reactions in article comments from Vital Spurs members yesterday were mixed, to say the least.

I’m not sure there is much truth to the suggestion, in fairness it was the reactions I was interested in and as the original story from Marca took hold on social media, it certainly sparked mixed thoughts from fans and did replicate what we saw on this site.
Some absolutely against the idea, some believing it had legs even if they didn’t feel it should be an option we took, and those who’d welcome our former player back with open arms believing his recent injury issues were more down to Madrid’s handling of him.

Yes. Whilst Eriksen is a marvellous footballer, id still rather have Bale. Id just have Bale over most people to be fair. I believe he's only been injury prone because of the way Madrid have handled him.

Geezer is made of glass, 30 and on the decline. Anyone thinking this is a good deal is living in 2010. Eriksen is an absolute magician & will get better and better because his game doesn’t revolve around pace. Should be doing everything we can to keep him.

We’ll find out in the summer if anything comes of this but the finances would have to be absolutely right before it became anything more than a pipe dream, even for those fans fully in favour of it.
