‘Best young striker’ on Pochettino’s radar? Man Utd & Liverpool throwing spanner in works

|

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are one of three teams targeting Blackburn Rovers attacking-midfielder Vilius Piliukaitis. The 17-year-old also has the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool interested in his signature, so Mauricio Pochettino may struggle to bring the teenager to London.

There’s no indication from Piliukaitis might be the subject of a bid from Tottenham, but he might feel that Pochettino could be good for his career given how many youngsters have progressed with the Lilywhites. Twenty-year-old Juan Foyth has recently been promoted to the first-team and could rack up a good amount of games this season.

Piliukaitis may be content to stay at Blackburn, however. The Lithuanian joined Rovers on loan (with a buying option) from the Lithuanian National Football Academy over the summer and will have a big decision to make at the end of the campaign. He’s made three appearances for their u18s, contributing two goals so far.

After suffering a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on September 22, Piliukaitis’ made an assist against Sunderland in a 3-2 win on October 6 and grabbed his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City a week later. Time will tell where his future lies.
