Bemusement: Tottenham left confused by wantaway star’s aspirations

|

Tottenham are reportedly bemused by Christian Eriksen’s mindset heading into the final weeks of the European transfer window.

ESPN report that the Danish midfielder will only listen to offers from either Real Madrid, Barcelona or Juventus as the Tottenham star aims to move on from the Premier League side this summer, however, the club are confused as to why the playmaker is in this state of mind.

This is because, as the report states, there has been no genuine interest in Eriksen from any of these three clubs. Tottenham are eager to tie the Dane down to a deal, but the midfielder has no interest in extending his stay with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

BBC Sport reported in the final few days of the English transfer window that Manchester United were in talks with Eriksen about a potential move, but the midfielder seemingly turned a move down to the Premier League giants to wait out for a move from a La Liga side.

Eriksen’s current deal with Spurs expires next summer, leading many to believe that the midfielder could leave the north London side on a free if he.

Real Madrid have been reportedly interested in Eriksen this summer according to The Sun, but it appears that Los Blancos have favoured a move for Man United midfielder Paul Pogba instead of the Spurs playmaker as reported by The Times.

Eriksen started the first Premier League game of the season against Aston Villa on the bench, however, the former Ajax midfielder was brought on to change the tide of the game to which he did successfully as Spurs went on to win 3-1.

Against Manchester City, though, the Danish star was poor against the reigning Premier League champions despite Spurs soldiering on to a 2-2 draw with Pep Guardiola’s side.
