Another Tottenham midfielder ‘sidelined’ ahead of Brighton clash after ‘setback in training’

|

According to BBC Sport, Ryan Sessegnon is ‘still sidelined’ ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion after suffering a ‘setback in training’. The 19-year-old has yet to make his debut since joining from Fulham over the summer, but his return date is now unknown after his latest injury setback.

Sessegnon picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty for England u21s, but his recovery has suffered a stumbling block and now Tottenham will have to wait until after the international break to make a decision on him. The left-sided midfielder is highly-rated, but Spurs can more than cope in his absence.

Mauricio Pochettino has Danny Rose/Ben Davies fighting for a starting place at left-back while Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen are options further up the pitch. Sessegnon has been a Tottenham player for only two months, but he’s already having a nightmare campaign.

Things haven’t been going too well for Spurs either. Pochettino’s men are sixth in the Premier League table with 11 points from seven games, having failed to win their three away games this season. Fortunately for Tottenham, they travel to face a Brighton side without a win at home this season and should come out on top.
