We might be some way away from the summer transfer window, but rumours are still flying around the place and refusing to go away, and Tottenham find themselves at the centre of an interesting story.

Corriere dello Sport report that Jose Mourinho is interested in reuniting with former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, with the 30-year-old centre-back enjoying a renaissance of sorts at AS Roma this season after the England international joined the Serie A club on loan back in the summer.
How far will we go in the Champions League?
Round of 16
Quarter-finals
Semi-finals
Final
Despite Smalling actually impressing for Roma this season and playing every minute for the Italian club as stats from WhoScored show, lots of Tottenham fans on social media weren’t best pleased with the rumour and believed that the Manchester United loanee would be a terrible addition to an already ageing defence.
Here’s what tons of Spurs fans had to say on Twitter about the rumour…
What absolute garbage.

This must be nonsense, he is 30

Jose would rather leave Spurs and coach in League 2 than be reunited with Smalling

He’s actually still terrible in Italy despite his purple patch. Luiz Felipe is clear
