“A Full Explanation Is Deserved” – A Call For Clarity As Spurs’ Stadium Saga Rumbles On

|

Writer: Micky Z

Spurs new stadium was originally costed at around £450m and various reports suggest sums have reached £850m or potentially a cool billion.

It seems certain that the costs have escalated hugely but there have been no reports or explanations as to how this has happened and who is responsible.

Usually, when a contract is agreed for a new build a price is settled upon and this is set in in stone. Any increase in cost is the responsibility of the construction company.

There seems to have been no comment from the Tottenham hierarchy explaining how and why the costs have escalated to such enormous levels – why, when the increases in costs are in the hundreds of millions?

Have the construction company suffered the extra costs as per the original contract terms or have Messrs Lewis and Levy paid up, as the original contract had no fixed price or penalty clauses?

Surely the Club will not be picking up the tab which could see transfers and player contracts further stalling, risking the loss of our top players and manager leaving and the Club to fall into decline.

A full explanation to the fans is surely deserved.
