Well, Spurs Didn’t See That Coming But Thankfully We Are Through – Match Stats

With Tottenham Hotspur having a poor start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign following a defeat to Everton last weekend, tonight’s trip to Bulgaria takes on even more significance as we face Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Qualifying Second Round of the Europa League.

Manager Jose Mourinho did make a couple of changes, but it was still a strong squad, however, rather predictably for this type of game the first half wasn’t exactly a classic. We dominated possession and chances, but only had two on target – so going in at the break scoreless wasn’t a great surprise.

Second half was much the same but watching paint dry would’ve been more entertaining until – the hosts took the lead with their first shot on target.

Not exactly ‘scenes’ but the game then turned a bit mental.

Lokomotiv could’ve doubled their lead, but we were then awarded a penalty for handball on the line and they went down to ten men. Before the penalty was taken, they were then down to nine men and Harry Kane slotted home from the spot.

Ten minutes to go to find a winner and five minutes later we had it as Tanguy Ndombele got his name on the scoresheet.

The goals ended there but blimey what an unexpected game.
