“We Know Where We Are & Where We Want To Be” – Spurs Remain On Track & Need To Be Patient

|

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, and skipper, Hugo Lloris has had a bit of a mixed season this year. Some fine saves, some incredible stops and then positively horrifying moments.

Spurs fans are no different than other clubs really, the steady and standout stops made by a goalkeeper are often forgotten as the clangers remain far more in the mind, but that’s an ongoing debate.

Spurs go into this weekend’s clash with Bournemouth knowing that three points guarantees us a spot in the top four and Champions League football next season which is massive from the financial point of view given our new White Hart Lane Stadium, but it’s not just domestic football we have to consider, the Champions League Semi-Final tie against Ajax is not over yet either.

For some fans we’ve slipped backwards in style this year, for others we’ve learnt to do just enough and top 4 plus CL Semi’ means significant progress.

Speaking to Football London Lloris is clearly in the second camp, but he’s made a plea for continued patience when it comes to our aspirations as he feels we’re on the right path.

“We know where we are and where we want to be. Success takes time, step by step. I can see the improvement, year after year, by the work, by the philosophy that the manager has brought, by the energy of the players and the people that work at the club. From the fans as well because the last two years. while it was not difficult to deal with Wembley, we missed home and you can feel the change now, straight away. The comparison between Wembley and our new home, the energy and the atmosphere are completely different and hopefully that will help us reach the next level. It’s an exciting moment to be part of this project for all of the players involved.”

Adding.

“I think it is one of the most exciting places in British football and maybe in Europe so we need to enjoy it, but I think it demands even more responsibility towards the players to be in these facilities so we just need to remain focused on the job in hand and do our best for the club. I think we are reducing the gap with the best clubs in England and in Europe and I think every time we have the opportunity to show that, we have to demonstrate it and that has been the case this season.”

Undoubtedly there will be those who agree with his sentiments, and naturally, those who don’t, and football revolves around opinions.

After the next two games, one of two camps will be bolstered, we just have to hope it’s the right one!
