“We Are Now World Cup Winners In Facilities” – Poch Gushes About Spurs’ New Stadium As He Looks To Open A New Chapter At The Club

|

Wednesday evening was special for a variety of reasons and although the result for Tottenham Hotspur was all important, simply being able to welcome Crystal Palace back to our new White Hart Lane Stadium was all that mattered for plenty in the fanbase.

Goals from Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen gave us a deserved win on the night given our overall control on the match, and many would say with the chances we created the scoreline should’ve been higher. It was about three points and returning to winning ways though, so very much a case of job done.

Speaking to the BBC following the game, manager Mauricio Pochettino was clearly in a happy mood, but whilst he gushed about the stadium and paid credit to Daniel Levy, his words were angle in a direction that will have pleased fans.

“It’s a special moment, a special night. I feel and believe it is the best stadium in the world. We knew the game was going to be difficult and tough. You don’t know how you’re going to react but, playing the way we played in the first half, we were going to score. I’m pleased for Daniel Levy because of this fantastic project and I dedicate that victory to him. Now we are World Cup winners in facilities. Now the stadium is here and we need to be on the same level. We need to start to think about the new chapter, the new era, to ensure Tottenham is a real contender for the big things. With our training ground, this new stadium, you must think big. We have to behave like a big club for sure. We need to be a realistic contender for big things.”

All eyes to the summer on just how big Poch is now prepared to think. It’s still a project, but how we approach the end of the season will be a big statement.
