Against Ajax, the box-to-box midfielder played a full 90 minutes, made 80 touches, won one aerial duel, created one chance, made 54 passes with 80% accuracy, two tackles, one interception and four successful dribbles. He’s been in fantastic form this season and played his part in Spurs’ victory.
Sissoko has made a total of 42 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating four goals. The 29-year-old has made 24 chances and 35 successful dribbles (57%), averaged 46 passes-per-game with 86% accuracy and has averaged a tackle (35) or interception (15) every 45 minutes.
Mauricio Pochettino named Sissoko and Victor Wanyama at the heart of the midfield while Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli provided the creativity in a more advancing role. Sissoko was typically combative and helped turn defence into attack with lung-busting runs from deep and kept Lasse Schone and Frenkie De Jong at bay in the second-half.
