Udogie links solidify

The latest Italian transfer talk is that Spurs have secured a verbal agreement with Udinese’s Nigerian-Italian left-wing back Destiny Udogie. Having emerged as a target of Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte earlier on in the summer, Calcio Mercato claim that Paratici has this week resumed talks with Udinese regarding the signing of 19-year old Udogie for approximately 25 million euros.

It is reported that Paratici hopes to strike a deal that would see us sign Udogie permanently this summer before loaning him back to the Italians for the upcoming season, similar to the way Pape Matar Sarr was signed from Metz before being loaned back to the French outfit last season.

Indeed, several Italian outfits can be accused of jumping the gun when it comes to Spurs transfer talk – particularly since Paratici and Conte have joined the club – but the Evening Standard have claimed that talks between Udogie and the club have stepped as of last night. The report goes as far as to say that he’s been personally recommended to the club’s authorities by Conte himself, as he is seen by him and Paratici as having an abundance of potential.

Following the acquisition of Perisic and his public displays of faith in Sessegnon, Conte appears happy with our left-sided options for the upcoming season. Nevertheless, questions still persist over Sessegnon’s adequacy, and Perisic is very much a short-term option, no matter how well-conditioned he is. An eye on the future is therefore definitely needed, so this rumour certainly has legs.
